Vladimir Ashkenazy at the piano, and Bernard Haitink conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra do a good job of presenting Brahms Piano Concerto #2 on this album. Ashkenazy is in good form in his playing at the keyboard on track one of this album; he is highly conversant with the program material that appears here. The orchestra does an especially good job of accompanying Ashkenazy throughout the album. The sound quality of the album is good, with an emphasis on the lower register notes, as opposed to the higher register notes. The sound engineer does a good job of achieving balance between the piano as played by Askenazy and the orchestra, as conducted by Haitink. All said, I give this album my highest recommendation as a fit response by all players involved to Brahms Piano Concerto #2.
