A fresh and careful approach to jazz traditions plus experiments in melodies and rhythms born in the 21st century, performed by Nikolai Olshansky's Quintet.
The hero of the event, double bass player Nikolai Olshansky is one of the brightest musicians of the new jazz generation, a graduate of the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnesinykh, the winner of the main prize of the "Manor Jazz 2019" competition, a regular member of the bands of Georgy Garanyan and Anatoly Kroll, who at various times shared the stage with such legends as Valery Ponomarev and Josh Evans. Known as an empathetic and temperamental sideman. For many years he honed his style and skill in Russian and international projects, the accumulated experience gave him the opportunity to play the music that previously sounded only in his head. And over time, the number of his author's compositions turned into quality - into a concert program, which is increasingly presented to the public of the Club, and then into a debut album.
According to Nikolai, his work was heavily influenced by Avishai Cohen and E.S.T. Someone will surely find many other respected influences, but this will not negate the beauty of his music - powerful and at the same time subtle, with a bright emotional basis and many nuances.
