"Ragin' River" is the third CoraZong album release from Julian Sas, guitar player, singer and blues artist extraordinary. Julian Sas hails from Beneden Leeuwen a small town in the area where the rivers Rhine, Maas en Waal form the Dutch delta. An area that is an inspiration for Julian's song writing as much as the Mississippi delta inspired the great classic blues men. Although only 31 years old, Julian has already been favourably compared to such blues luminaries and guitar giants like Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix. His playing can be loud and aggressive or sensitive and subtle. Always tasteful, always musical, always emotional. And nobody can boogie like Julian! Besides John Lee Hooker, Freddie King, Willie Dixon or any other of the classic blues artists that inspire Julian, Rory Gallagher is major influence and inspiration. It is therefore extremely flattering and obviously a great honour that Julian Sas has been invited on a number of occasions to take Rory's place in the original Rory Gallagher Band. Importantly it also shows the respect that fellow musicians have for Julian. To fully understand Julian Sas and his two comrades in the band, you have to see them live and experience their dynamic, electrifying performance as witnesses and journalists from the Benelux, Germany and other territories are willing to testify: "When performing live, Julian Sas and his band sometimes blast out a Hendrix song like Hey Joe or Machine Gun. And I have to say that Julian is about the only one who gets away with it" "There is a remarkable chemistry between the band members. The rest of the band picks up Julian's inventive improvisations effortlessly. In a nutshell, superb performers". The Julian Sas Band was top of the bill at the legendary Fehmarn Festival, the German equivalent to Woodstock in 1999. That festival was entirely dedicated to the memory of Jimi Hendrix. The band also was one of the headliners at the Rory Gallagher Tribute in the Belgium Town of Wespelare. Two shows which Julian has particular fond memories of. Besides Julian Sas the band consists of drummer Pierre de Haard and bass player Tenny Tahamata. Pierre lives in the Dutch town of Nijmegen, former capitol of King Charlemagne's empire. Pierre, who is also know as the 'Boogie Machine' has been active as a musician since the end of the sixties and loves to play and improvise with Julian. Tenny Tahamata is also a seasoned musician. Before joining the Julian Sas Band, Tenny played with blues/rock trio Half Past Midnight (which backed Jimi's old partner Curtis Knight 'till he passed away on may 9, 2000). The initial copies of Ragin' River included a free bonus disc with Julian performing acoustic versions of his favourite blues classics. Recorded live of course.
