This is my second CD from the talented Ms Kole. Surrounded by prolific rhythm section, wind and string quartets, this CD will not disappoint. The multiple arrangements from members of John Pizzarelli's rhythm section plus contribution from the evergreen Messrs Alan Broadbent and Don Sebesky transports the listener to an era where musical enjoyment encompasses everything which is good and stylish in terms of composition, lyrics, melody, arrangement and performance.
Fifteen pieces were carefully selected from the composition skills of eleven different individuals which include Burton Lane, Cole Porter, Kay Swift, Johnny Green, Jerome Kern, Michel LeGrand, etc. Ms Kole delivers and renders them in a manner that you will never get enough of it. At the end of the CD, if you were like me, you'll be asking what is her next CD is going to be like. The exact question I asked when I listened to her "You Are There" CD.
If I had to choose two favourite pieces, it has to be Burton Lanes' "Come Back to Me" and John Pizzarelli's "Kisses in the Rain".
You can never go wrong with this CD. I purchased the Japanese pressing with 2 bonus tracks (Track 14 and 15, "Cry Me a River" and "Kisses in the Rain").
Happy listening!
