In the great tradition of American roots rock bands such as The Band, Wilco, Bruce Springsteen, Son Volt, and The Drive by Truckers, East Nashville’s Mayday Malone has built their sound on a foundation of the working-class American experience and musical camaraderie.

Mayday Malone initially came to life as a side project for East Nashville music scene veterans Chris Moynihan, Daryl Evans, John Miner, and Scott Martin, yet within a short time the organic personal and musical chemistry between the band members began to shape Mayday Malone into a sum far greater than its parts. The ethos of Mayday Malone is simple - play real instruments, perform engaging, well-crafted songs about real people, and let the unique personalities, vocals, and playing styles of each band member speak for themselves.

Moynihan spins witty narratives, detailing peculiar but familiar characters and the everyday stories of their existence in the American folk tradition; however, Moynihan's wailing harmonica figures, Miner's soulful lead guitar, Martin's melodic bass, and Evans' driving, expressive drums provide a unique backdrop, layered with three-part harmony vocals, that puts Mayday Malone's unique twist on the traditional folk narrative.

The band is quickly garnering strong buzz for their engaging, authentic, and entertaining live performances - no set list is ever the same twice, and song performances are open to many different interpretations.

Mayday Malone's independently-produced EP, The Helmwood Sessions Volume 1, was released in 2012 and remains a brisk seller at their live appearances. The band released their full-length debut album, Weathered, with Dave Coleman producing in June 2014.
