Muskee Gang ‎– Rimshots In The Dark (Reissue) (1986/2016)

When recording the lp "Rimshots in the dark" it came to a definitive break between Muskee and Gelling. Producer Jan Willem Ludolph refused to cooperate longer with Gelling. Reason was drug use during the recordings. No matter how Harry Muskee was at heart, he had to choose. It became the end of years of cooperation with Eelco Gelling. He experienced it as an amputation. The wound heals, but the lack remains.

Newcomer was Erwin Java. A boy who knew Harry of childhood. Erwin Java played in Wild Romance, the accompaniment band of Herman Brood and White Honey from singer Hanneke Kappen. He also had his own band for some time, during which he shared the stage with the Muskee Gang in 1984 during the Emmer Blues Festival. With Eelco Gelling, Melle Jan Kleisma also left. Their parties were deleted from the tape record except "Too blind to sea" and "I've always been lonely". By chance?

"I've always been lonely" knew Harry in the performance of B.B.King of the LP "Live at Newport; The American Folk Blues Festival" Morale of the song: you have to do it yourself.

"Instinct" Harry still wrote with Eelco Gelling. It's about a scared feeling. It suspects something wrong. Blues of a sensual man. Hence the title of the lp, "Rimshots in the dark", a robbery on the edge of the snare room. And that in the dark! Announcement of evil.
