Born in 1967, the composer Chengbi An studied in Shanghai and Paris (with Gérard Grisey, among others) and now lives in Berlin. His preoccupation with electronics, but also with phenomena of sound per se, shapes his music, as do extra-musical influences, such as techniques of the visual arts. This first edition in the planned edition of his works spans from solo to orchestral instrumentation and covers the period from 1997 (while he was still a student) to 2019.
