Entre deux thèmes du trompettiste Tom Harrell somptueusement arrangés, une version de toute beauté du classique « Body and Soul », Dal Sasso signait une longue pièce « Ouverture » qui témoignait de ses ambitions en matière d’écriture pour grande formation de jazz. D’une plume marquée par l’héritage de Gil Evans, George Russell ou Thad Jones, l’ancien élève d’Ivan Julien révélait aussi une conception de l’orchestration sensible à l’influence de compositeurs classiques tel que Henri Dutilleux.

Published in 2004, the first album of composer and arranger Christophe Dal Sasso with a big band marked the dawn of a whole generation supported by Lionel et Stéphane Belmondo. Between two themes by trumpet player Tom Harrell that are sumptuously arranged, a beautiful version of the classic "Body and Soul", Dal Sasso wrote a long piece, "Ouverture", that testifies of his ambitions to write for a big jazz formation. Influenced by Gil Evans, George Russell or Thad Jones, the former student of Ivan Julien also reveals an orchestral conception receptive to the influence of classic composers like Henri Dutilleux.
