Dallyn Vail Bayles
From the small town of Green River, Utah, DALLYN VAIL BAYLES is a professional actor, singer and recording artist. Bayles performed with the Broadway touring company of The Phantom of the Opera understudying and performing the roles of Phantom, Raoul and Andre. He played Enjolras on the Broadway tour of Les Misérables and was part of the show’s China premiere engagement that starred Colm Wilkinson. In New York City, Bayles performed with Stephen Schwartz and Norm Lewis in the industry reading of Children of Eden playing the role of Adam. He also played Villefort in the Tuacahn New Works reading of The Count of Monte Cristo with Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy.
Bayles has performed leading roles in several regional theater productions across the country, including the roles of Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music, King Triton in The Little Mermaid, and the Beast in Disney’s When You Wish at Tuacahn Amphitheatre; D’Ysquith Family in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Hale Centre Theatre), Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel (Hale Centre Theatre), Edward Rochester in Jane Eyre (Hale Center Theater Orem), Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden (Village Theatre and HCTO), Billy Crocker in Anything Goes (Greater Lowell Music Theater), Godfrey Cass in the world premiere production of The Weaver of Raveloe (A.R.T.’s Oberon Stage), Father in Ragtime (Hale Centre Theatre), Emile de Becque in South Pacific (HCTO), Count Chandon in Phantom (Fullerton Civic Light Opera), and Pharaoh in Aida (Fiddlehead Theatre). At the Boston Conservatory, Bayles performed the roles of Sid Sorokin in The Pajama Game, John Wilkes Booth in Assassins, and Jud Fry in Oklahoma!. Bayles is a member of Actors' Equity Association.
As a concert soloist, Bayles has performed across the country with several distinguished performers and musicians. Bayles performed at Carnegie Hall in Tim Janis’ "Christmas" and "The American Christmas Carol" concerts along with Tori Kelly, Colbie Caillat, Matthew Morrison, Sierra Boggess, Hayley Westenra and other stars of stage and screen. He was honored to perform with Rebecca Luker and the Tabernacle Choir at the 85th birthday celebration of past President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Thomas S. Monson, and has been a frequent guest soloist with the Tabernacle Choir on their broadcast “Music and the Spoken Word.” Bayles has also performed as a guest soloist in concerts with Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn, the Utah Symphony, Oscar "Andy" Hammerstein III, and Emmy Award winning and Grammy-nominated composer Kurt Bestor.
On film, Bayles portrays Brigham Young in the independent feature Green Flake. He portrays Hyrum Smith in the feature films Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration and Emma Smith: My Story. Bayles has also starred in various “Mormon Messages” short films, and in the Liken The Scriptures film series. He has performed in several stage productions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including the Nauvoo Pageant, Savior of the World, and in the Church’s 2002 Winter Olympics production, Light of the World.
Bayles has recorded three solo albums, including a Broadway album (Some Enchanted Evening), and two Christian inspirational albums (Song of Redeeming Love and Prayer). His recordings are featured in the films 17 Miracles and Ephraim’s Rescue. Bayles has also recorded a duo Christmas album with Mindy Smoot Robbins titled O Holy Night.
Bayles received his MFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory, and his BFA in Music Dance Theatre from Brigham Young University. He was honored to receive the 2017 Utah Governor’s Mansion Performing Artist Award, and the 2012 BYU Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award.
In addition to his performing career, Bayles has worked as a director, adjunct faculty in BYU's theatre and music departments, voice teacher, and master class instructor.
