Michele Savino offers us a competent and interesting interpretation of some organ gems from northern Germany, a programme including music by Dieterich Buxtehude, Nikolaus Bruhns, Samuel Scheidt, Georg Böhm and Johann Sebastian Bach. The disc is accompanied by a booklet in English and German, signed by Klemens Schnorr.
Michele Savino completed his organ studies at the Conservatory of Avellino (Italy), subsequently specialising in Freiburg and Cologne. After several years in Italy, he settled in Germany working as a Kantor in Emmendingen and Kerpen.
The organ in St. Martin's Church in Riegel is a splendid three"manual instrument with 35 real registers and a fully mechanical transmission. Built and installed in 1991 by Riegner & Friedrich of Hohenpeißenberg, it is based on the authentic German organ building tradition, although it is not based on the Silbermann model.
