One of the most gifted cellists of the 20th-century before her career was brutally interrupted by the tragic effects of disease, Jacqueline du Pré left legendary recordings, many of which can be considered absolute references in both chamber and concertante music. This collection was recorded in her youth with a favorite partner, Gerald Moore. It contains the splendid Fantasiestücke by Schumann and the lovely Sicilienne attributed to Maria Theresa von Paradis (but more likely a musical hoax by Samuel Dushkin).
