Veronica Maggio's seventh album "And as vaALBUM Veronica Maggio is still the best at Maggio-pop but the overall look at the situation also means that she does not always engage as before. Something terrible happens" is released in two parts. The first is out now.

POP If any Swedish artist has the right to continue to sound like himself, it is Veronica Maggio. No one has had a greater influence on how young pop music in the mother tongue has developed in the last decade. The breakthrough album "Satan in the Street" became a kind of blueprint for the Spotify era's domestic hit sound. Maggio's melodies, formulations and phrasing are repeated by countless followers. And I really do not demand that artists who have turned 40 should start writing about daycare pick-ups and home loans. They can tell about exactly what they want as long as they manage to touch and convey something interesting. Still, it is not possible to shake off the sometimes a little too familiar feeling that surrounds the first six songs we get from album number seven. Veronica Maggio is still the best in class on Veronica Maggio-pop, "Se mig" and "Varsomhelst / närsomhjst" have already become solid hits. She now knows exactly how to find the straightest path to the listener. And possibly that's why that world of crying in the rain and nightly drunken dramas does not always engage as before, the concept easily feels a little too ... safe. In the last two songs, playful "Daddy issues" and the adult love ballad "Lost to the world", however, there are signs of new perspectives, both in text and music. Part two is welcome to take those tracks further.
