For his second full-length album, Blinkhorn makes use of enhanced field recordings and synthesizer patches to capture the mood during and immediately after a rainy day. While rainy days might not always be something we look forward to, they are cleansing and essential to natural life. With Music for Rainy Days, Blinkhorn aims to share the feeling that rainy days give him through his music.

The first half of the album features sounds recorded during rain storms whereas the second half of the album contains field recordings taken by Sligo Creek in Silver Spring, Maryland immediately after rain. In each track, Blinkhorn accompanies the field recording with synthesizer sounds, highlighting the recorded natural sounds.

The title track for Music for Rainy Days tells a melodic and harmonic story alongside the subtly effected field recording, and despite being the longest track on the album, the music keeps the listener engaged. "Downpour" is the second track off the album and it features Outputmessage's ethereal vocals, which nicely complement the recording of a heavy rainstorm and Blinkhorn's organ-sounding synthesizer patch. "Roaring Creek" begins and ends with a bright, carefree melodic motif on top of a purposeful chord progression and in the body of this long-form track, Blinkhorn explores various components of a three-timbre arpeggio synthesizer patch. "Creekside" concludes Music for Rainy Days with a more abstract, earthy sound and a lead melody that meanders its way through a blues scale.
