A searing slide guitar and growling harmonica combined with a tight and solid rhythm section including smashing washboard. Those are the Mississippi Kings!

Founded in early 2013 and consists of five experienced musicians with great love for the blues. Hailing from North Drenthe, an area rich in good blues bands.

Singer/guitarist Ronald Schoonveld, harmonica player Steven Elings, washboard player Jaap Fijma, singer/bassist and drummer Ton Töben Karstjan Kremer form a close bond that guarantees lived and passionate music.

A portion of the band has been part of the legendary BJ Hegen Blues band. The band plays alternately in both small and full occupancy and the old Delta blues and Chicago blues from the 50s and 60s as major inspirations.

In addition to his own work the repertoire consists of music from blues greats such as Robert Johnson, Bukka White, Mississippi Fred McDowell and Robert Lee Burnside.
