Charlie Halloran, The Tropicales - New Orleans '26 (2026)

New Orleans musical ensemble Charlie & the Tropicales has released their studio album New Orleans '26, conceptually linking Louisiana's jazz heritage with rich Caribbean traditions. Active since 2018 across premier New Orleans venues such as Snug Harbor and Tipitina's, as well as the Jazz Fest, the group recreates the vibrant atmosphere of 1950s Caribbean resort dance floors. The record's sonic palette incorporates styles including biguine, calypso, cumbia, rocksteady, rumba, and tropicalia. The recording features guest contributions from Latin Grammy winner Mireya Ramos, Grammy winner Jon Cleary, vocalist Sally Baby Geloso, and dub engineer Roger Rivas, framing New Orleans as an integral northern hub of the Caribbean archipelago.
