With the release of his debut EP „Garden Path“, to be published on vinyl in July 2022 by the Heidelberg-based independent label MuZi (Musikzimmer), Christof Keller reaches out to a larger audience as
a composer and arranger with an exciting fusion of jazz
and electronica.
The tracks, which have been curated with great care by the publisher László Fehér, are meticulously arranged in a blend of accustic instruments, analogue and modular synthesizers, field recordings and digital sounds – experimental, full of harmonic suspension and still melodically accessible. In addition to the instruments and sounds recorded mostly by Christof Keller, the recordings are enriched by guest musicians, such as Jochen Seiterle on the guitar, Heidi Aydt on the grand piano and Claus Rosenfelder on the bass clarinet, before they were eventually mixed with great attention to detail and over many months by Stephan Keller („The Busters“).
Christof Keller’s album takes the listener on a journey along strange pathways of rich influences from impressionism to electronic music via jazz to progressive rock, at the same time remaining independent and focused. The elaborately designed cover perfectly illustrates the music with beautiful photographs by Jan Kricke.
Based in Heidelberg, Germany, Christof Keller has primarily been focussing on playing live as a double-bass player in different jazz, big band, pop and fusion projects, for which he also provided numerous themes and pieces. In recent years, his attention has turned more and more towards electronic music and modular synthesizers, opening doors to new sounds and workflows.
Along with the publishing of his debut album, a live concept is emerging in collaboration with the keyboarder and pianist Martin Pohl („Buddha Sentenza", „Irie Révoltés“), a musician adept in all musical styles, giving Christof Keller’s musical themes an ever changing space in improvised electronic music.
