John Berry is being touted as country's next big superstar, and STANDING ON THE EDGE should certainly aid that movement. Berry possesses a soulful tenor steeped in classic R&B, and imbues all of his lyrics with a passion that gives an extra breath of life to all his material.

Berry's music is intense, as witnessed by his rendition of Hank Snow's 1963 hit, "Ninety Miles An Hour." But it is his emotional pop ballads that drive his fans crazy, and that style is fully represented on STANDING ON THE EDGE by songs like the defeatist "If I Had Any Pride Left," or Vince Gill's poetic "Prove Me Wrong."
