At the annual European television competition in Knokke, Belgium, in 1977, this quartet won the first press prize, and they became the first jazz group ever to perform at this festival. They all worked with each other, but that year they were brought together to represent Danish television. Matrix Records is very proud and happy to release this album, first of all because of its musical quality, secondly, because of the participation of world-famous musicians in it and, thirdly, because they worked so well together. Svend Asmussen, violin. He is internationally known for his worldwide tours with "Swe-Danes", a long jazz career in Europe and work with singer Alice Babs (she sang many times with Duke Ellington).Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, bass. He is known for his playing with Oscar Peterson for many years, as well as for his work and recording with Kenny Drew in the well-known "DUO". He is an "award winner", having received the "Bassist of the Year" award from Melody Maker in 1977. Kenny Drew, piano. A veteran of the jazz scene who has played and recorded with almost every famous musician you could name. Among them: Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, etc. Ed Thigpen, drums. He is well known for his playing and recording with Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and other important bands. We hope that after listening to this album you will be able to consider yourself the winner of the music prize...
