YORK is releasing "The Vintage Funk Vol. 1" - hip, danceable, and groovy the 13 tracks present themselves immersed in the impeccable sound of 70’s funk! Although YORK’s style is already trademark typical, the tracks awaken memories of the "Godfather of Funk" James Brown, as well as being reminiscent of Disco-Funk in the style of Maze, Sister Sledge or Chic.

Because what does the musician do during the Corona pandemic? Correct: make music! Admittedly: Still far from being back as before, on countless stages and in the most diverse recording studios, but in the "Blue Sound" recording, mixing & mastering studio at home. A process that can best be described as "making a virtue of necessity", which also explains why the Hanoverian is already releasing the next long-player just six months after the release of his highly acclaimed debut album "The Soul Jazz Experience Vol. 1"! Yes, it is truly surprising how swiftly YORK has completed "The Vintage Funk Vol. 1".

Even more remarkable is that the former live and studio sideman for heavyweights such as Randy Crawford, Phil Collins, Mousse T., Jazzkantine, Bahama Soul Club, or Spice isn´t only responsible for playing the flute and saxophone on this album, but also for recording instruments like Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Hohner Clavinet, B3 Organ and – just recently acquired - the electric bass:

"Because of the Pandemic, I once again retreated to the studio for weeks at a time, finalizing old layouts and getting to grips with my old vintage keyboards and electric bass. I quickly got into a great creative flow, and even new tracks joined the old ones. On the new album I brought the style of the funky 70's to life - this music has always been a big soft spot of mine. The necessary 'dirt' of my vintage instruments and the analog recording equipment support me on my journey through time. In addition, I have once again been able to activate my network for various guest vocals."
