Friedrich Liechtenstein - Good Gastein (2022)

Musician, flâneur, advertising icon: since 2012, the trained actor and longtime puppeteer Friedrich Liechtenstein has developed into one of the best-known faces of the German advertising industry: Ahoj-Brause, Mercedes Benz, Gilette, TELE 5, most recently HD+ and many other brands rely on his distinctive , cool appearance: full beard, sunglasses, smart suits and fingernails painted gold. And his unmistakable deep voice.

Friedrich Liechtenstein once again dives into other musical worlds on his new album. He has put together a new band especially for this. »The Octagon Pavilion« are eight international, first class musicians who live and work in Berlin. Sebastian Borkowski, with whom Liechtenstein has already worked on the trio project, is the musical director of the new formation.

In contrast to »Bad Gastein«, the new pieces contain less electronic sounds, but more handmade sounds like on »Schönes Boot aus Klang«. However, Friedrich Liechtenstein does not stop there, but also plays with new elements. It is a 10-song, 10-lyric double album inspired by Manfred Krug's 1974 work Jazz-Lyrik-Prosa. With »That was just a moment«, Liechtenstein also interprets a song by Manfred Krug, one of his musical role models.

»Good Gastein« was created during the corona pandemic and was therefore also inspired by it. The first two planned single releases, the Eurythmics cover »I Saved the World Today« and the hip-hop parody »All drinks are on the house« refer to this extraordinary time. While the former exudes optimism, the latter is an expression of exuberance that had built up during the long period of lockdown.

The recordings for the album take place in a Berlin studio. The project supports the capital's music scene. Berlin is also a topic on the album again and again: »Ach Berlin« is a duet with singer Severija. The two can already be heard together in the song »Turquoise« by the Moka Efti Orchestra.
