Luis Víquez - Paul Lombardi: Pieces for Clarinet & Other Instruments (2022)

This CD contains eight contemporary works by Paul Lombardi, mostly for clarinet, but also voice, percussion, saxophone, cello, and tuba. Lombardi’s music is introspective, investigating intricate textures and unique sound-worlds, by exploring intervallic fractals and patterns, where duration, rhythm, and meter are often integrated with the harmonies and melodies. Lombardi (Ph.D., University of Oregon) is an associate professor of music theory and composition at the University of South Dakota. This collection of works was written over the last fifteen years and recorded by performers in South Dakota, Kansas, and New Mexico.
