Shining Bird - Black Opal (2016)

Shining Bird, an experimental-pop group from Austinmer on the south coast of NSW, was originally founded by Dane Taylor and brothers Russell and Alastair Webster. Now a six-piece; the band released their 'Shade of the Sea' EP in 2012, followed by their acclaimed debut album 'Leisure Coast' on Spunk Records in 2013. The album received widespread acclaim for its unique brand of Australiana-infused dream-pop. On the back of strong reviews from credible publications such as Rolling Stone, Russh and Sydney Morning Herald, along with an Album of the Week on ABC's Radio National, 'Leisure Coast' helped propel Shining Bird towards a broad and loyal bunch of listeners. Touring extensively to promote the release of 'Leisure Coast', the band's live shows earned them a finalist nomination for 'Best Live Act' in FBi Radio's Sydney Music, Art & Culture Awards (SMAC) in 2014.
