Right from the offest, with the artfully phrased and voiced declamatory 'Preludio', one can relax in the knowledge that Balog is not only a safe pair of hands but someone who innately understands Liszt's idiom...these performances are remarkably good and far from studio-bound while lacking that last edge of spine-tingling magic.
