ATMA Classique is proud to present Suite Tango, a new album by two exceptional artists: Stphane Ttreault, cello, and Denis Plante, bandoneon.

These two virtuosi have joined forces to perform a collection of tunes that are astonishing in their rhythmic diversity and passionate, driving sensuality. With Suite Tango, whose form is inspired by the unaccompanied cello suites by J. S. Bach, Denis Plante creates a singular world in which the tango becomes futher refined while classical music becomes more playful.

Stphane Ttreault was awarded an Opus prize for performer of the year 2020-2021 by the Conseil qubcois de la musique. He also received the 2019 Virginia Parker prize from the Canada Council for the Arts, and was nominated for the Ontario Arts Council's Oscar Morawetz prize. In 2018, he received the Maureen Forrester Next Generation Award. In 2015, he was selected to join the Classe d'Excellence de violoncelle with Gautier Capuon, a project organized by the Fondation Louis Vuitton, and received the Women's Musical Club of Toronto Career Development Award. First ever Soloist-in-residence of the Orchestre Mtropolitain, he performed alongside Yannick Nzet-Sguin during the 2014-2015 season. His most recent album, Transfiguration, based on a series of concerts he gave with harpist Valrie Milot, was launched on May 6, 2022.

Denis Plante grew up in an artistic family in Montral, surrounded by period instruments, costumes, and theatre sets. A charismatic soloist, he has performed with artists such as Diane Dufresne, Gilles Vigneault, and Andr Gagnon. After a stint in Argentina, he settled in Qubec where he founded the ensemble Tango Boral, a laboratory for exploring impressionistic tango. His creations and compositions have won numerous awards, including best song at the Festival de chanson, and a Creator of the Year award from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Qubec. Both of his latest discs on the ATMA classique label, Tango Boral (2010-2011) and Pampa Blues (2014-2015), won the Opus Prize for Recording of the Year in the World Music category.
