«Don't Go to Strangers - A tribute to the Tulsa Sound under the loving light of J.J. Cale» is the name of the new record by the Geneva music jack-of-all-trades Komet City. Music history hasn't sounded so relaxed for a long time.

But first to the phenomenon of the Tulsa Sound: Passionate music lovers: inside it is well known, for others it may still be new territory. The Tulsa Sound originated in the city of the same name in Oklahoma between the late 50s and early 60s and combines the genres of rockabilly, blues, country and rock 'n' roll. JJ Cale is considered one of the most influential figures in the Tulsa Sound, achieved legendary status during his lifetime and is still celebrated as a composer and performer after his death in 2013. In this profound admiration also begins the project of Komet City, which has long wanted to create a homage to its role model, but only got around to it during the lockdown. Komet City affectionately describes the fourteen tracks on the "Tribute Album" as "covers that aren't covers". Singers from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Argentina and the USA have contributed to the new versions of the songs by J.J. Cale participated, six musicians from Geneva formed the band.

"Don't Go to Strangers" delivers nostalgic guitar sounds, a wonderful range of performers and makes a musical (time) journey possible. Comet City invites you to share your passion for the life's work of J.J. Listening to Cale and rediscovering the Tulsa songs. My personal favorite of the album is «Age Of The Nightmare», which was performed by Danny Lee Blackwell of the band Night Beats. A soul-soaked track that rocks both late-night drinks and a long drive.
