Although this was actually recorded by the duo Curtiss Maldoon, one-half of the pairing, Dave Curtiss, was dissatisfied with the record and asked that his name be taken off the album release. That's why it's titled Maldoon, and billed to Maldoon. This is not much different from the self-titled album that Curtiss Maldoon put out in 1971. It's even-paced, unexceptional, inoffensive early '70s singer/songwriter-flavored material, with a bit more of a British rock feel than most albums lumped into the early-'70s singer/songwriter category boast. It's a little more acoustic toned and brooding than the Curtiss Maldoon album; they fire off a cranky putdown of glam on "All the Time." With the exception of the song "Monkerwollik," it's available in its entirety on the Curtiss Maldoon CD compilation Sepheryn — The Definitive Collection, which also includes some unissued tracks and a non-LP B-side by the duo. ~ Richie Unterberger
