Stéphane Belmondo - Ever After (2013) [Hi-Res]

After graduating from Michel Legrand s big orchestra, French trumpeter Stephane Belmondo joined the DeeDee Bridgwater trio and subsequently played with a series of top jazz musicians. His own recordings include an album of Stevie Wonder compositions and here he takes a similar approach, injecting a jazz vibe into some classic soul songs. Belmondo pays tribute to one of his favourite singers, the highly talented but much troubled Donny Hathaway (famed particularly for his duets with Roberta Flack). He fronts a small band, augmented by strings, featuring vocalists Gregory Porter and Sandra Nkak. Pianist Jacky Terrasson plays Fender Rhodes, an instrument whose sound is instantly identifiable with Hathaway's records
