Review by Stephen Cook
The year is 1976 and disco is enjoying its first year of a late-'70s run on the charts. Better collections of the sparkly stuff have certainly been released, but this roundup should be just fine for fans needing a bit of a year-by-year tour of the period. Only 12 tracks are on hand, but the selection is still impressive, with two mammoth classics by Diana Ross ("Love Hangover") and the Andrea True Connection ("More, More, More, Pt. 1"). And while more usual suspects like the Bee Gees, Thelma Houston, and Donna Summer are on hand, there's still room for some left-field hustle compliments of the Mighty Clouds of Joy and the Originals. A short but potent taste of disco's nascent prime.
