Gloria Jones - Vixen (1976) [Reissue 2008]

Gloria Jones might be most famous for recording the original version of Tainted Love , the Northern Soul classic popularised by Soft Cell. Having recorded for several different labels, culminating in a spell with Motown, Gloria became romantically involved with Marc Bolan and worked with T. Rex as a backing singer. Their relationship led to the highly coveted Lp Vixen, issued on T. Rexs label through EMI in 1976, which has long been out-of-print. Marc co-produced the album as well as writing or co-writing most of the songs. Gloria re-recorded Tainted Love . Another highlight is her two-part rendering of the T.Rex classic Get It On .
