Tāmaki Makarau's BEACHWARE (Julia Morris, James Mac, Rob Hartnell, Josh Nicholas, Alexandra Selkirk-Hanna, with Scotty Pearson) have announced their 9-track debut LP, It's Only Time.
After a pandemic and several years of patient work, the record is slated for release on February 2, 2023. Emerging from the chaos of lockdown, BEACHWARE have had time to lay low and craft a brand new album of high-hearted melancholic material.
The album represents a revival in the BEACHWARE sphere. Selling out Galatos Basement in December 2021, the band has previously supported the likes of Billy Idol and Zed, Clap Clap Riot, and Autozamm, and won RNZ songwriting competitions.
Described as ‘high energy’ and ‘boldly composed’, the group write ‘kiwi power pop’ with a DIY ethos and attitude, carving out a space of their own with glossy pop hooks but earthy rock foundations.
