Released later in the same year as their debut album, Baby Won't You Change Your Mind is a strong follow-up to Don't Turn Around and one which further cements the creative partnership of lead vocalist Leroy Burgess and producer and arranger Patrick Adams. Both would then go on to form The Universal Robot Band in the mid-70's.
Released in 1972 on Perception Record subsidiary imprint Today Records, Baby Won't You Change Your Mind also saw the emergence of the song writing partnership of Patrick Adams and Stax/Volt composer David Jordan. Adams and Jordan co-wrote every track on the album joined by June Anderson on Spinnin' Around, the US Billboard top 50 single releases from Baby Won't You Change Your Mind.
Using almost the same personnel from the debut album Baby Won't You Change Your Mind connects to the creative sounds The Salsoul Orchestra and MFSB through Vince Montana's and Norman Harris' respective contributions. Patrick Adams would also go on to write and produce for Salsoul Records and the Prelude label scoring hits with, amongst others, Loleatta Holloway, Leroy Burgess and Jocelyn Brown.
As a subsidiary of Perception Records the Today label was only active for about two years and it is the releases of the two Black Ivory albums, now re-issued by BBE Music, which set the benchmark due to the quality funk, soul and Disco RnB tracks that grace Baby Won't You Change Your Mind.
