This debut album from the duo of Courtney Kaiser and Benjamin Cartel aims for an "Oh, we're just strumming some tunes in our parlour" feel, and pretty much succeeds in convincing you that the pair have simply picked up a guitar - and a xylophone - to play you their new songs. Things are not really that simple: this homey vibe has been created by the producer Matt Hales (aka Aqualung) and mixer Ken Thomas (best known for working with Sigur Rós). Both Kaiser and Cartel have day jobs teaching young children, which may explain their preference for simple melodies, positive lyrics ("It's time to cheer the seasons of the year") and the question-and-answer format ("How are you feelin'? Okay").
