Juan Carlos Calderon - Bloque 6 (2003)

Spanish pianist and composer Juan Carlos Calderón released Bloque 6 in 1968, an album that became a major milestone in the history of Spanish modern jazz. Featuring standout performances from leading Iberian jazz figures such as saxophonist Pedro Iturralde, Vlady Bas, and drummer Pepe Nieto, the record showcases an authentic hard bop and post-bop aesthetic. This sound stands in stark contrast to the artist's later work, which heavily integrated funk, disco, and flamenco fusion.

The recording earned high international acclaim, winning Best International Jazz Album in the United States in 1969. Years later, the legendary Blue Note label reissued the title on CD, paving the way for its first-ever official vinyl reissue.
