On April 1st we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninov. The last heir of the great Romantic tradition, he confided like no other the torments of his inner life marked by exile, anxiety, and depression to the piano, his life-long companion. Though solo and concertante compositions are predominant in his catalogue, Rachmaninov also wrote a few pieces for two pianos and four-hands such as the irresistible Italian Polka, the supreme Suites, or the lovely and underrated Pieces, Op. 11. These versions by great specialist John Ogdon, teaming up with his spouse Brenda Lucas, are making their digital debut.
