Koichi Yasui is a well-known seeker of sound who has inherited the dense German tradition of pianism from his teacher Konrad Hansen (Edwin Fischer's highly respected disciple, known for his famous performance of Beethoven's Fourth Concerto with Furtwängler). After retiring from the Kunitachi College of Music, he has been performing with his son, cellist Sotaro Yasui, and others, and his lustrous, beautiful sound and sublime music have attracted a strong following. This CD is a live recording of the piano trio's concert at the Sapporo Fukinoto Hall on October 21, 2021, and beautifully captures the virtuosity of the virtuoso pianist who inspired the two young string players and took them away to a musical utopia, as well as his flexible and inscrutable sound conversation.
