East Forest & Peter Broderick - Burren (2023) [Hi-Res]

Multi-genre artist East Forest and composer Peter Broderick have teamed up for a dreamy and unique collaboration. Burren (out March 17th) was recorded on the spot over one week in the magical moonscape of The Burren in Ireland with album tracks appearing in the order they were recorded. East Forest (Krishna-Trevor Oswalt) is best known for his Music for Mushrooms and Ram Dass albums and has been called "blissful" (NPR) and “a new genre” (Billboard). Broderick has worked with everyone from Nils Frahm to Zooey Deschanel, from Clint Mansell to Horse Feathers, and is perhaps best known for his solo piano piece "Eyes Closed and Traveling," which has 47M streams on Spotify.

And now their forces have combined for a truly pastoral and refreshing LP, with some incredible singles to start you off. As they put it, “Having never met in person before, we had only one precondition: no musical plan — to be fully open to the ancient rocky hillside landscape in County Clare known as ‘The Burren’.

“Resurrect Inside” and “The Barren Burren” are lush and temporal compositions that reveal how much the sublime and the natural world impacts artistic endeavors. On “Resurrect Inside”, the pitter-patter percussion is reminiscent of both rain and any animal that may be trotting by. While firmly grounded in melancholic tone, the track revels in the depths of beauty available in these tones with a driving attitude. “The Barren Burren” is much more on the contemplative, ethereal side of things. If the first song is melodic nature; this second release is the world unseen, but felt.
