Lamont Charles - Ode to Dopamine (2023)

Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Lamont Charles moved to the CT/NY area in 1999 to start a band and launch a human rights organization.
As the front man for his former band Ten Shekel Shirt, Lamont had a #1 radio hit (Ocean -2001) and his music video “Fragile” garnered over 1.5 million views on YouTube. The three band albums are a window into the evolution of his worldview and songwriting ability. New Haven Magazine wrote this about his final Ten Shekel Shirt album (Jubilee), “The songs employ dynamic contrasts utterly beyond the ken of most pop/rock practitioners.”
After taking some time away from music, Lamont released his first EP “Mystic Christmas” in 2021 and his first full length album as a solo artist “Ode To Dopamine” March 15, 2023.
As a humanitarian, Lamont co-founded the international organization “Love146” in 2002 to combat human trafficking. More recently, Lamont and his current organization UNITAS were awarded a Webby Gold Anthem Award for their work creating and implementing human trafficking prevention education in schools across the US and Eastern Europe. He also helps expand housing and therapeutic services for survivors.
