John was born and raised in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island and was influenced by Cape Breton/East Coast and Canadian music from his father’s record collection at the early age of 10 years. He began to perform professionally at the age of 15 with his rendition of Cape Breton Celtic and Folk songs. John established himself touring with local cover bands around the Maritime bars/pubs, music festivals and conferences in Ontario & the USA.
