Haioka - From Ash Hill (2015)

HAIOKA's debut album "From Ash Hill" cover art. which was released in 2015. Shintaro Haioka, Tokyo based producer/musician, is a man who is deeply in tune with his cultural identity. Haioka offers a distinctively Japanese take on modern electronic music, and one that rationalises the past with the future, and his nation with the world.

His debut album which was released from Germany label was well received by music lovers all over the world. It gave him the opportunity to perform at SXSW in TX, USA. From Ash Hill features a fusion of different electronic music genres, including ambient, dub, and glitch, with a focus on incorporating traditional Japanese musical elements.

"Ash Hill" means "灰岡", yes, his name "HAIOKA". So, Japanese calligrapher Bunsho Nagata, Shizuoka based artist, also expressed kanji "灰 (ash)". His style of calligraphy is inspired by kanji characters origin.
