Van McCoy - Soul Improvisations (1972)

Although best known to the listening public at large for his lone headlining hit, the disco blockbuster "The Hustle," Van McCoy in fact enjoyed a long and remarkably prolific career behind the scenes as a songwriter and producer, piling up a series of soul hits prior to his premature death at the age of just 39.

This Buddah-album was originally released in 1972 as "Soul Improvisations". To capitalize on the huge success of the 1975 Avco-album "Disco Baby", Buddah re-released it in abridged form (two songs less) with new track sequence as "From Disco To Love".

Tragically, McCoy died on July 6, 1979, at the age of 39 from a heart attack. He left behind a legacy as a talented musician and producer who helped shape the sound of soul, R&B, and disco music.
