Quincy Jointz - Melting Pot (2023)

A satisfyingly varied four-tracker here from 20-year scene veteran and Timewarp regular Quincy Jointz. 'Breath In' pairs a looping, reggae-tinged backbeat with dreamy fem vox that wouldn't sound out of place on a fluffy Ibiza prog cut - no, it shouldn't really work, but it does. The meandering, percussive 'Desert' follows and is the standout to these ears thanks to its use of a hypnotic, Indian-sounding male vocal loop. Next up, 'Be With You' is a slower, mellower jam with a seriously heavy bottom end and some lightly applied funk squelch, before dubwise headnodder 'Echo Chamber' plays us out. Good stuff.
