Tina Arena - Un Autre Univers (2005)

Tina Arena's departure from English-language songs to almost exclusively French ones was a brilliant concept. Her new life in France in her new relationship plus her new child have given her lush inspirations. The raw passion in her soul is felt in every single number. This collection flows from one heartfelt vocal to another. To choose favorites out of this cd would mean writing about them all!! Vocally, Tina fills these songs with subtle depth, glowing color, and unyielding strength.
This work has critics now comparing Tina to Celine Dion. I suppose they must feel that this is a "compliment". Yet it's difficult compare the two singers. Other than the fact that they both sing French songs, they are quite different vocalists. It would be nice, however, if like Celine, Tina Arena could finally claim the world-wide recognition that she so deserves.
