Over the past several years Toni Saigi has worked to consolidate Tronik, the project he has custom-assembled to perfectly suit his original compositions. Together they have developed their own unmistakable sound thanks to the unique rapport shared with bandmates Jaume Ferrer, Marc Cuevas and Carlos Falanga.
Wara, which means star in the aymara language,is the group’s third outing. It comprises a collection of eight originals. These are the fruit of a process in which Saigi “distills a piece of life into an idea, which is then shared and defended by each member of the group as if nothing else mattered”, as Pau Sala explains in the album's liner notes.
Tronik’s new album promises to be a highlight among current jazz releases, thanks to the quality of the compositions and the sonority of the quartet, that is at once deeply rooted in jazz, while at the same time bringing the music’s essence up to the present through their manifestly contemporary language.
Toni Saigi – Piano
Jaume Ferrer – Tenor Sax
Marc Cuevas – Double Bass
Carlos Falanga – Drums
