After a long and intense jazz activity that took him with his instrument from the New York clubs to the central Fukushima, the double bass player Giuseppe Bassi signs "The Nine Lives of the Soul" (Doppio Sugo Records), a new recording work strengthened by splendid and charismatic presence of the Anglo-American vocalist Eileina Dennis, two-time winner of the "Jazz Search Award", known in Italy for having been Zucchero's vocalist for a long time. In his collaborations he has also joined artists such as Randy Crawford and Giorgia. The musical union of the FunKlives takes shape with the direction of the versatile and imaginative pianist-keyboardist Paolo Sessa, and the modern and creative drumming of the drummer Gianluca Porro who collaborated with Lalah Hathaway in the reworking of one of her greatest hits. The quintet is completed by one of the most appreciated altoists of the Italian scene, Gaetano Partipilo.
