Matthias Van den Brande Trio - Three Sides of a Coin (2023) [Hi-Res]

The Matthias Van den Brande Trio was created by its bandleader/saxophonist in 2021 and features two of his favorite people and musicians: Tijs Klaassen (bass) and Wouter Kühne (drums). This intimate trio setting provides them the freedom to explore different rhythmic, melodic and harmonic ideas, guided by freshly composed material by the bandleader.

With their mutual friendship and strong musical connection as the true foundation of this trio, they end up with an original take on what modern jazz means in the current day and age. This was picked up rapidly by many programmers and juries in the beginning of this trio's journey.

They won the ‘Grand Prize’ at both the B-Jazz International Contest (Belgium) and the prestigious Tremplin Jazz 'Concours Européen' in Avignon (France). The Matthias Van den Brande Trio released its first EP ‘Approaching The Present’ in April 2022, followed by a release tour around Belgium, The Netherlands and France. In June 2023, they will be releasing their new album ‘Three Sides of a Coin’ on ZenneZ Records.
