"We recorded this album at 3 concerts in the Moritzbastei in Leipzig very complex and elaborate with almost 40 single tracks. The concerts were a kind of unplugged/acoustic performance and we had a competent, great guest on the cello: Anne Müller from Berlin. Our sound mixer Georg recorded this album there and we worked very intensively on these recordings. Live recordings are always very difficult and most famous live albums have been corrected and/or re-recorded in the studio afterwards. Our concept is different: we did NOTHING to correct mistakes and inconsistencies, it is as authentic and real as never before.

Most of the well-known songs have never sounded like this before. They sound more stripped back, not necessarily quieter . they are a little less rock and noise, are reduced to their essence, breathe very intense and atmospheric. Georg as a producer was months in making every single instrument, every single track audible. The songs you all know sound slightly unfamiliar here, but you can hear every single instrument out if you want to. I accompanied the whole process, but without ever patronizing Georg.

So on the one hand it's a studio album, because we worked on it so intensively and made everything audible; but on the other hand it's a live album, because we didn't interfere with the concert/playing at all; because it radiates the dirt and intensity of intimate club concerts the way it rarely shows how each individual musician lives and plays the song. That's what makes this record unique. It's an honest and organic record. Is it a live record? Is it a studio album? I'm going to call it 'Reduced!" and it will also memorialize Pia once again at the same time."
