Tyler Cooney Quintet - Jazz in Meanjin 005 (2023)

Tyler Cooney is a Brisbane based guitarist and composer. As well as leading and co-leading his own projects Monsterra, Headland, and as a solo jazz artist, he performs as a sideman in a number of other ensembles including Kerbside Collection and Dezzie D And The Stingrayz. Recently he was nominated for the prestigious 2023 Freedman Fellowship Award.

After a successful tour and album release of his debut studio album Modern Ideal, Tyler returns to JMI Live with a quintet to premiere some new tunes for an upcoming project. You might expect to hear a few standards as well. Tyler is joined by James Sandon on Tenor Saxophone, Eden Armstrong on Piano, Elliott Parker on Double Bass, and Chris Evans on Drums.
