Marvin Gaye's Greatest Hits: Live in '76 captures him live in Amsterdam on his first European tour. Though the set list includes such classics as "Let's Get It On," "You're a Wonderful One," "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby," and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," Gaye's perfunctory performance -- he whips through 23 songs in just over 50 minutes -- doesn't always do the songs justice. However, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," which also features Florence Lyles, is a reminder of Gaye's boundless talent. The slightly weak audio and washed-out image quality are also somewhat disappointing, but not totally surprising given the film's age. Despite these drawbacks, Greatest Hits: Live in '76 does provide the sheer thrill of seeing Gaye perform; that may be enough for his die-hard fans.~Review by Heather Phares
