Mobilis Saxophone Quartet - Kaleidoskop (2023) [Hi-Res]

Who hasn't held one in their hands at least in childhood and, while looking into it and turning it, let their imagination flow into the constant change of the color games of a kaleidoscope? A similar magical world as that optical one is reflected acoustically in the present program, in which the Mobilis Saxophone Quartet shows quite different and yet equally overflowing facets of the classical saxophone. It presents itself as it were organ-like with Bach, orchestrally colorful with Strauss, chamber-musical in string manner with Glasunow and spectral, quasi electronic with Haas.

The arc places great names in music history alongside one of the most important composers for the early history of the saxophone in the 20th century and one of the current works by a prominent Austrian of our time. The goal is clearly described: "With this colorful mix we want to express our passion for all kinds of musical styles and reach listeners with diverse musical backgrounds. The title seems fitting to us because one should have a kaleidoscopic listening experience, surprised by the different sounds and fragments of music history" (Michael Krenn).
