Best of the Waitresses gives a good career overview of the band, collecting the bulk of the high points from their two albums, of course including the unforgettable "I Know What Boys Like," as well as some fun non-LP cuts like "Square Pegs" (the theme from the "valley girl" TV show Square Pegs) and the holiday rap "Christmas Wrapping." Best of the Waitresses offers ample proof that the band deserved more than one-hit wonder status, although this collection is probably all that most people need. The more ambitious should add the King Biscuit Flower Hour disc for a sampling of the band's truly inspired live shows.
